SUPERANNUATION FINANCIAL ADVICE

As an Alcoa Plan member, you can access limited financial advice to help you achieve your financial goals, at no extra cost. Everyone’s situation and objectives are different and there’s no ‘one-size fits all’ strategy when it comes to financial advice.

Research indicates that people who seek financial advice can be better off than those who go it alone. Alcoa Plan Members have access to a number of services so that you can develop a plan that helps you achieve your goals. These services include:

ALCOA LIFETIME SUPER MODEL

The Alcoa Lifetime Super Model is an industry-leading retirement income calculator, which enables you to estimate your projected super balance and how long it may last in retirement.

The Alcoa Lifetime Super Model is designed to estimate your total retirement income, including benefits you may receive from the Age Pension and non-super investments.

You can choose to factor in super details for your spouse or partner (if applicable) and see the impact of a career break or move to part-time work on your projected super balance.

This enables you to more clearly assess your estimated financial position in retirement and what you may need to do to reach your desired retirement balance.

MEMBER EDUCATIONAL WEBINARS

As an Alcoa Plan Member, you have access to an ongoing series of educational webinars that can be viewed anytime. These webinars are designed to help you understand how to get the most from your super.

PERSONAL AND GENERAL ADVICE FROM OUR PHONE ADVISERS

As an Alcoa Plan Member, you have access to our Helpline Advice team who are trained and certified to provide you with personal financial advice about maximising your Alcoa Plan to achieve your retirement goals.

This is an over the phone service provided at no additional cost. They can discuss and assist you with strategies such as:

  • Growing your super through contribution strategies best suited for your situation
  • Insurance needs for you
  • Investment options that are tailored to your investment approach and time frame
  • Retirement income strategies such as starting a Transition to Retirement (TTR) or an allocated pension from your Alcoa account
  • General advice on the Age Pension

All our phone advisers are qualified financial planners with a wealth of experience in supporting our members. In the phone meeting, your adviser will seek to understand your goals and your current situation. Based on this, they will develop a financial plan that is specifically designed to help you achieve your agreed financial goals.

This appointment is an opportunity to have a general advice discussion with a Mercer adviser about your financial goals and concerns. Your adviser may refer you for a comprehensive financial advice appointment if they feel you require more holistic financial advice.

COMPREHENSIVE TAILORED FINANCIAL ADVICE

If you live in Australia and would like holistic financial advice tailored to your specific circumstances and financial objectives, you have access to a Mercer Financial Adviser.

This is a fee-based service which will allow your adviser, and their support team, to work closely with you to unpack and understand every aspect of your financial situation, as well as identify and prioritise your medium and longer term financial objectives.

By gaining a holistic understanding of your situation and objectives, your adviser can work directly with you, to help set specific financial goals and create a plan to help you achieve them. The plan will account for your income, every day spending and expenses, superannuation, tax requirements and your desired income in retirement - all while helping to maximise your savings and minimise your tax.
